Give Students a Chance to Wiggle While They Learn.
My students need seating options and a chance to wiggle and move in order to learn in a way that is best for them.

My Students
How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed? Students need the opportunity to choose the way they learn best. Flexible seating and learning centers are an excellent way to differentiate learning for all students.
The students in my classroom are students with learning and emotional disabilities.
Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. My school serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities. The typical student in my class reads at a 1st grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and fluency skills needed to be successful. By offering students a choice on where they sit in the classroom and activities they complete will help the students learn to their full potential.
My Project
The materials in this project will help students engage in whole group and small group lessons. Some students have trouble sitting in a typical desk with a chair for hours on end. By offering choice in where they can sit will allow them to focus and learn. The caddies and learning centers will help keep classroom materials organized and offer students a choice in what they are learning. Some students learn best by plaing games. The learning centers are a great way for students to interact with others while learning. All students can learn and offering a choice can be what is needed to engage reluctant students in learning. Please consider donating to change the lives of my students.
