Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Emergent Bilingual middle school students work hard to learn English, and they benefit from being able to take brain breaks during class in order to rest and recharge. Using a timer to manage their own breaks helps them learn self-management skills that benefit them now and will also serve them in their future education and careers.

Timers increase their motivation to balance work with breaks, while earning stickers motivates them to complete learning tasks.

The visual impact of seeing the sticker count grow allows them to gauge their own progress and also feel motivated to earn more stickers in order to keep up with their peers.

Timers and stickers are motivating for all students no matter what language they speak. Students who are able to manage their own brain breaks and monitor their sticker counts are more focused on their learning and achieve more academic success. It's time for timers so students can stick to success!
