My students are wonderful kids who need a lot of movement and sensory input to access learning.
Many of the students I directly serve are neurodiverse learners and learners with mild learning differences (Autism, Attention Deficit Hyper Activity, dyslexia, OCD, etc.).
They are in co-taught classes but also come to my classroom one period a day for additional executive function and skills instruction.
My students are kind and caring kids who need a little push to be the best they can be.
My Project
While it may be impossible to get a real window, we would love to have window mirrors in our classroom to open up the classroom space and give the illusion of a bigger room. Our windowless classroom has certainly become a bit comfier thanks to the donation of the lamp bookshelf and bean bag chairs. The donation of window mirrors and some fun accessories will make our space even more cozy.
More sensitive students sometimes feel the stigma that can come along with their diagnosis and feel like our space is "other." I want my students to feel like our classroom is the best space on campus and they are welcome and comfortable at all times.
