My students are more than just students I teach on a daily basis. They are my heart and soul. I taught kindergarten when my current students were in kindergarten and have known most of them for the past three years. These past few weeks, being out of the classroom due to Covid-19 has been so hard on us. Our classroom is such a family, and we are feeling the sadness being apart from each other. These students are resilient, they are low income, many of them doing all they can to attend our virtual class and working so hard to learn in this difficult situation, while the conditions at home are less than ideal.
My students have shown to be resilient during this difficult time. They have been sure to wake up on time each morning for live online lessons, struggled with new technology, and shown how amazing they can be with submissions of online assignments.
I want to give them some essential supplies to use while we work together to achieve their learning goals online.
I would also like to send them some small gifts to reward their hard work. They have not complained about the lack of classroom rewards, recess time with their classmates, or the lack of resources I know they have. Many of my students' families are doing all they can to just feed their families and I would like this burden to be eased by providing learning essentials.
