Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The drab grey and black floors and furniture in my classroom do not mimic the vibrant joy and energy that my students exude each day. Daily, students complain about the cold temperature setting, which cannot be adjusted due to the HVAC system. The white sterile walls offer little in the way of sparking inquiry and inspiration. However, you have the power to change this! Help give the hardworking, caring, and college-bound students an extreme, joyful and inspirational classroom makeover. Your donation will provide my students with more flexible seating options, cozier rugs to warm up the space and inspirational quotes to support them in pursuing their dreams. Through this project, you can contribute to bringing joy, pride, inspiration and creativity to my classroom by helping to create an updated, colorful, and cozier space.
Daily, these materials will help all of my one hundred and fifty students to feel drawn to my classroom, happier while inside it, and electrified after being there.
First, the tennis balls for the desks and chairs in my classroom will help improve the ease of moving the furniture for Socratic Seminar, Community Circle, and presentations. Next, the colorful stools will facilitate easier stations, collaborations, and fun for all of us. The bean bag chairs will support the creation of a cozy independent reading nook. The rugs will warm-up the space, literally and figuratively, helping to stem the tide of daily complaints about the temperature. The vinyl decals will transform my white walls into vibrant, print rich oases of inspiration for all of my students who aspire to pursue college and career after high school. Together, these materials will imbue my classroom space with the inspiration, warmth, and joy that my students exude.
