This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have never met a group of harder working students than my students. My students are a group of inner city English Learners who come from low income families. Even with all the obstacles they face, they are extremely independent.

They work hard to develop leadership skills with the hope of one day positively affecting their community.

They strive to become better students with the hope of creating a better future for their family and themselves. Their dreams allow them to go past their limits.

My Project

These materials will assist me in teaching my students about living organisms. The brine shrimp will allow my students to experience how animals are hatched through hands-on experience. They will break into small groups and use the brine shrimp kit to watch the eggs hatch.

The seeds will allow my students to plant and harvest the seeds in our garden.

As a class, we would consistently go to the garden to observe and harvest the plants and vegetables as they grow. This will demonstrate how animals and plants are similar to each other as they both go from seed/egg to animal/plant.
