My Students

I am the reading teacher at my school. I am responsible for teaching struggling readers in middle school. Many of the students that I work with read on a 1st-4th grade level. By the time they make it to middle school they are very well aware of their difficulties and it is my job to help them see that there is still hope.

I'd like to increase my classroom library options with books that appeal to these struggling readers.

Graphic Novels are the popular genre of books and my library has only a few of these books.

My Project

I always encourage my students to read. I am not particular in what they read, as long as they read. Graphic novels are great for struggling readers as they allow them to read in a fun style. Students don't view these types of books as laborious because they are comic book style. These books will go into my classroom library so students can borrow them for personal reading.

I would like to increase my classroom library options with books that appeal to my current students.

I have brought in books from my home library and they have been gravitating to these graphic novels.
