Many of my students have access to some sort of electronic device at home, either a phone, a tablet or library computers but I want to utilize the amazing reading websites that have leveled books as a reading group. In order to do this in the classroom, I am asking for four iPads.
These iPads will allow students to access leveled books on their interest levels easier. Through the use of this technology in small groups I can help my students learn tools to use outside of the classroom as well.
The electronic versions of texts offer valuable resources for struggling students. I can show them how to highlight text, use tracking assistance to build fluency and audio assistance on words they are unfamiliar with. In the class, I can utilize various apps that will allow me to strengthen their sight word vocabulary, comprehension skills and overall reading abilities. By using these features in class on iPads, the students can also use these same tools at home with ease.
