This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

While I currently have containers and materials, I am requesting funds to purchase key furniture items to support the development of a writing center and an independent work center in our blended preschool classroom. Specifically, I am seeking funding for a set of white drawers to organize and present writing tools, and a shelf to house individualized learning tasks and activities.

The Importance of Writing and Drawing in Preschool:

Writing and drawing are foundational skills in early childhood development. They not only support fine motor development and hand-eye coordination but also promote self-expression, creativity, and early literacy. A well-organized writing center will encourage children to explore print concepts, develop pre-writing skills, and build confidence in their ability to communicate through written language.

Purpose of the Independent Work Center (see photo):

The independent work center will provide a structured yet flexible space where students can engage in individualized tasks. This setup supports intervention by allowing targeted practice, maintenance of mastered skills, and acceleration for those ready for enrichment. It also encourages self-regulation, independence, and a sense of accomplishment, all of which are essential for long-term academic success.

By creating these dedicated centers, we aim to foster a learning environment that supports diverse learners and promotes meaningful engagement through independence and creativity.
