This group of kiddos is very resilient! On October 10th, our hometown experienced a direct hit from Hurricane Michael (a Category 4 storm...almost a Category 5!).
Even with devastation surrounding them, the loss of their homes, clothes, toys, and normalcy (and almost a full month out of school), my students come to school with a positive attitude and a desire for routine and learning every day.
They are kind, concerned for others, and are able to persevere through very tough circumstances.
The recent hurricane has forced many of my students to have to endure very "grown-up" scenarios. They now discuss mitigation and insurance instead of 2nd grade appropriate topics.
By giving the children in my class a board games like Hungry Hippo, Game of Life and others to take home, you are gifting them a piece of childhood.
They will be able to step away from their current circumstances outside of school, play a game with their classroom friends, and just have fun!
The board games will be used at our Christmas party for a gift exchange. Each child will take a game home at the end of the party.
