Help me give my students with Visual impairment and multiple disabilities a peace corner that will serve as a serene safe space where they can calm down and regulate their feelings.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I moved to a new classroom with hardwood floors and it needs a rug for the calming corner. Help my Visually Impaired Mod./Severe address the anxiety and challenges in a safe space. This dedicated area, will be decorated with a dark blue cozy rug, sensory toys, two bean bag chairs, 2 pillows, and a glowing moon lamp. Having a calm place allows my students to work on their emotions and get ready to learn. I have specifically chosen a neutral colored rug to support my students in their learning as studies show that neutral and calming tones benefit student will Visual Impairment focus and overall sense of comfort. The calming corner will support my Blind students Social Emotional Learning and give them a space when they need a moment of quiet.
