My Students
I want you to remember a time when you didn't have something you really, really wanted. Worse, remember a time when everyone else had a cool thing and you were the kid who didn't have it. Did you ever have feelings of insecurity and self doubt? That's exactly how some of my students feel.
At my school, most of my students have access to tablets, providing that their parents sign a consent form.
Some parents are unable to give consent, so those kiddos go without using tablets.
I see the looks that these special children give me when I issue an iPad to their classmate, and they have to go without one - through no fault of their own. I try to make up for this by allowing them to do fun activities, but the feelings of insecurity and injustice still linger on.
Tablets are a great tool for education and communication. The world for a kindergarten child is full of imagery. On a tablet a child can create a sentence or even story using a series of images.
My Project
The benefits of having a tablet for my students are as follows:
-Allowing students to take control of their own learning.
-The touch-screen interface allows students to engage more interactively with content.
-Education programs can be tailor made for each student.
