My Students
My students are struggling readers in kindergarten through fifth grade. Many of them are at a socioeconomic disadvantage. They want desperately to read like their peers read. They often struggle with behavior due to the fact that they are very aware of their deficit.
Despite their struggles, they love coming to the reading room where they can read intriguing mysteries, compelling dramas, fascinating nonfiction books and much more! I love watching their faces light up with each new book that they learn to read!
My Project
My goal is to give as many high-interest books to my students as I can. Many of my students are at a socioeconomic disadvantage. They do not have the same opportunity and access to good books as many of their peers do.
By giving these kids really good books, you are helping to level the playing field! Research shows that the more engaging books that students have access to, the more they will read. I want my students to have every opportunity to learn, to grow, and especially to read! I know my students will be delighted to have books to read at home and at school.
