Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students, over 90% of whom are female and people of color from lower-income backgrounds, are learning to become software developers. They are gaining skills in Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, creating their own websites, and exploring hands-on technology like digital embroidery machines and 3D printers. However, their current devices are outdated and unable to support the advanced tools and software they need to succeed. A modern MacBook Air laptop will provide the power and performance necessary for them to fully engage in these activities, allowing them to learn and create without the limitations of older devices. This laptop will empower them to run coding environments smoothly, design and build complex websites, and operate technology like embroidery machines and 3D printers effectively. This will help them take their learning to the next level.

The goal of this project is to equip my students with the tools they need to thrive in their tech education and prepare for careers in technology.

With access to up-to-date devices, they will be able to dive deeper into their coding lessons, experiment with new technologies, and bring their innovative ideas to life. My students are special because, despite facing many obstacles, they are motivated, determined, and passionate about their education. They are breaking barriers in a male-dominated field and bringing diverse perspectives that will allow them to contribute to the future of technology in meaningful ways. With the right tools, they have the potential to become the next generation of tech leaders.
