Help me give my students the ability to ride to games together in a bus. This allows for more team bonding and relationship building, but does increase team costs.
The Varsity/Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Teams have been building their program. From years without a team to partnering with a sister school to establish a strong base, to growing the Middle School program, to finishing the 17-18 season with the best conference record for our school program, girls basketball at Burris has made a strong comeback and the future looks bright!
These girls are ready to play basketball, but with a larger team comes larger transportation costs.
In order to save money, most school teams travel in 8 passenger vans instead of a bus. We have been unable to build our team account after purchasing uniforms to cover the cost of bus transportation. We are hopeful that DonorsChoose supporters and Dick's Sporting Goods can help cover the difference in bus costs.
My Project
The Burris Girls Basketball Team faces a challenge off the court. As the program grows, so does our transportation costs. We prefer to travel in a bus as a team, instead of saving money with multiple 8 passenger vans. Therefore we are raising money to cover the increase in transportation costs.

We are growing fast. This is my 2nd year as Head Coach, I am determined to give these girls our best season yet. Two years ago, we used our team account to purchase new uniforms, but that left nothing to build the program. In the past, the athletes have had to pay $100 (or more!) in transportation fees on top of other fees and costs - uniform rental, warm-ups, and athletic fees. The cost to play is often overshadowed by the desire. By supporting this request, all of our athletes will be able to participate, removing cost barriers from individuals and the team. In addition, riding to games together allows for more team bonding and relationship building.
