Girls Rule in Reading, Math, and Science

My students need reading materials that cover all content areas especially math and science.

This project expired on December 13, 2016.

My Students

I have the pleasure of working in an all girls charter school. This is the first year the school will be all girls and the grades are K-8. The mission of the school is for all the girls to have a supportive and structured classroom that will foster independent and lifelong learners who are prepared to attend any university of their choice!

My students are eager to learn, respectful, well-behaved, intelligent enthusiastic, and well-rounded individuals!

The scholars are taught all subjects and are engaged in math and language for a minimum of 90 minutes daily. Thank you for reading this and considering donating to such deserving scholars!

My Project

My students need books that cover all content areas especially science and math. They also need opportunities to engage in hands-on activities to enhance their discovery and mathematical skills. The books and magazines will be used for reading comprehension and reading fluency. It is important to expose the scholars to all genres of reading, especially non-fiction as this type of genre correlates to state standards and testing.

In addition to reading in all content areas, the scholars need to use manipulatives to explore mathematical concepts and problem solving strategies.

The whiteboards will be used as a platform to plan and solve word problems and math equations. The students love these are excited to use medium other than paper and pencil! The pocket charts will house vocabulary and anchor charts making visible references to science and math concepts readily available throughout the classroom. The laminating pouches will be used to protect the necessary vocabulary words, graphic organizers, and other visual aids related to math and science.

It is important to have materials and supplies within reach of these amazing students to keep their minds exploring and minds full of learning!

Your generous donation to our project will improve our 3rd grade classroom by building a stronger readers and excellent math and science explorers.
