My Project

My students are inquisitive and engaging 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, and most of them are from families, who are low socio-economic backgrounds. Our middle schools students elected a student council who created a new school initiative called Girls Rock. Girls Rock is an initiative to provide emergency sanitary napkins and feminine items to girls at school. Since we have no dispensers in the bathrooms, student council identified teachers who are easy to approach. These teachers agreed to keep supplies on hand to discreetly give out to girls with emergency feminine needs. The principal and our student services approved the initiative and are willing to support us, but we need your help in securing supplies.

We will provide selected teachers a discreet bag with several feminine needs, including sanitary napkins, tampons, feminine wipes, hygienic wipes and specially created first time menstrual kits with a book for guidance.

Although we have teachers and school counselors available, some students are very shy and the books provide good, safe and accurate information about the changes going on in their bodies. Fulfilling this initiative will provide a great need to our students, as well as a source of accomplishment to our student council members fot actualizing their goal.

Student Council has developed a plan, created a manner to dispense the supplies and secured administrative approval. All we need now are supplies. Please help us bring sanitary napkins and needs to girls during a difficult time of transition for them.
