Help me give my students (females) an opportunity to lift. Lifting helps with injury prevention and improve performance in sport, as well as improves self-esteem and confidence! Help us to be compliant with Title IX!
Currently, we are not compliant with Title IX for our girls do not have the opportunity to lift safely and effectively. We need help purchasing a few of the larger items such as bumper plates. There are no time slots available for us to get in the football weight room and the 2nd weight room that was equipped is 300 square feet - a converted closet! We can't fit a team in there! To be fair and equitable, we are trying to equip a mobile weight room so our girls have an opportunity to lift to reduce chances of injury and improve performance. We all know that girls' self-esteem and confidence skyrocket when taught various power and Olympic lifts.
Many teenage girls struggle with developing a healthy self-image and in turn, are prone to increased anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, and eating disorders.
Lifting weights has been proven to improve self-esteem and confidence, as well as improve academic performance! Likewise, the momentum of learning to lift helps us open the door to healthy eating!
We currently don't have adequate equipment, nor do our girls have access or means to travel to a fitness center. We are a small, rural, community school. We greatly appreciate your consideration and help!
