Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Mirror Mirror will help fifth, sixth and seventh grade girls have open discussions about their self-esteem since they don’t truly understand reasons for their emotional and physical changes are and how it affects their day to day interactions with friends, teachers, and their family. Tools will help address their challenges.

Girls will address why keeping good hygiene helps their day to day activities.

An excellent way to help them is to have small bag to keep products like a small deodorant, lotion for their skin, feminine products and more.

We will talk about challenges they are facing at school. They will learn how to make friends, understand disagreements, and share hobbies and interests by working with activities they can do when they are alone, such as sports, arts, or clubs. They will learn that keeping a journal and scrapbooking are a positive way to express themselves, with future plans, hopes and dreams. They will also learn than these experiences can be shared with the person they love the most.

Students will address how personal style help them express themselves through their appearance, hygiene, health. We will help them understand they don't need to start using excessive makeup to feel pretty; using lip balm and skin lotion will help their dry skin and provide a little color to their natural beauty.

We will have a "foodie talk" which is a survival necessity, it represents culture, an adventure and for others a passion.

Snacks will help them understand that snacks will help give them energy without the need to avoid foods, to look and feel better.

Decorating a water bottle will give them a sense of belonging since they feel goals are difficult to achieve and that they have no right as a child.
