Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has BAM (Becoming a Man) program for our male students. Our female students do not currently have a program like that available at our school. Two middle school teachers have decided to take the lead in hosting a group with the middle school girls after school to give them a space to talk through some of the challenges of middle school and have some fun.

Meeting after school we would like to encourage the girls to stay so we were thinking a goody bag at their first meeting might be just the motivator to have them give this after school program a try.

The goody bag would include a book we will read together as well as a bookmark, hand lotion and a lip balm. The boys program is always getting things leaving the girls feeling left out so I am hoping that the girls will be excited that the focus is on them.
