Girls Can Play Too

My students need soccer balls and soccer goals to help continue the improvement of our scholars' soccer abilities.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Boulineau's classroom raised $865

This project is fully funded

My Students

Our 550 scholars, as we call them, come from all over Charleston County. They have made the choice to come to our school. Our school is one of the most diverse in our county. Around 50% of our population is on free or reduced-price lunch. Our scholars come ready and eager to learn with amazing ideas.

Our scholars come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds.

And they continue to push themselves to be the best they can be. They are our future generation.

My Project

This project will help provide more supplies for our girls' soccer team to continue to play and improve their soccer skills. We have a difficult time finding enough girls interested in playing soccer at our school so to provide equipment for them to play is important. The girls that we have on the team come from all different levels of experience. Some of them come on our team and are playing for the first time ever and others have been playing for multiple years. Them coming together to work as a team and continue to persevere and improve has been amazing. By putting a soccer ball at the feet of each girl will help them build their technical skills. It will also provide them the opportunity to take a soccer ball home to practice and be active over weekends. The soccer goals will help provide an opportunity to set up and play small sided soccer games. When playing on smaller pitches, it gives each player more touches on the ball that help them get better and it makes each girl have to make quicker decisions.

Girls are dropping out of sports by high school at an alarming rate, and offering them as many opportunities as possible is important to keep our girls active.

The girls that do come out for the team grow to love the sport and love playing. And to be able to offer them the opportunity to play is important for them. The get to create positive relationships with their teammates, they get to compete and find a drive to excel, and they get to be active.

We hope to continue to excel our girls soccer program to become well established and have girls continue to play after high school.
