Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarteners! Each of them comes into school with a sparkle in their eye and an excitement for learning that truly boggles the mind. Each day is something new and different. In kindergarten, students are truly able to fall in love with learning and are able to experiment and grow at their own pace.
I teach 24 curious and questioning minds.
Most of my students come from low income families and over half of them are English Language Learners.
My job, as a teacher, is to provide an environment where students can learn to their fullest potential. I want students to feel successful, I want them to love learning and to love school. I want them to feel safe and to feel valued. I want them to grow and to learn. Most importantly I want them to know that they can do anything.
My Project
This year, it is all about the girls! I am so lucky to get the privilege to work with a group of girls in a STEM club throughout the year! In honor of "A Hour of Code" we will be coding all December!
Girls are coders too!
Toys like "Let's Go Code" will give girls an opportunity to move through a "code maze," while a toy like Botley gives girls access to robots and the opportunity to solve real world problems with them.
All girls are strong, independent thinkers. Giving young girls the access to quality science education and education materials is essential to keeping girls engaged in science for the long term.
