This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders who are general education students with Individual Education Plans (IEP) who live in many different parts of Long Beach. The students have learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, autism, and or D

Deaf and hard of hearing, and they are working hard to succeed in general education courses to graduate high school.

They come from diverse social and economic backgrounds and are all working towards their future goals for higher education and careers. The neighborhood lies in Lakewood, but it is a part of Long Beach Unified School District. My students come from all over Long Beach to attend this school.

My Project

These books will be used in small girls groups where we are focusing on self esteem, loving ourselves, building ourselves up, treating girls with respect, building others up, and other topics that come up during our sessions. The groups will develop based on the students needs.

Girls in high school have so much on their plate.

They are going through the roller coaster of emotions, while trying to find themselves, keep and make new friends, achieve academic, social emotional, athletic and personal goals, all while prepping for adult life, and time seems like it is moving really slow, or moving really fast in their eyes.
