This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our high school is located 28 miles south of San Jose in the City of Gilroy. This semi-rural area is at the southern tip of the Santa Clara Valley and is undergoing rapid change from an agriculturally-based community to a workforce community for Silicon Valley. The community contains a socioeconomically diverse population. GHS is one of two comprehensive high schools in the unified district serving grades K-12. There are approximately 57,000 people living in Gilroy.
We are excited to celebrate our graduating Seniors who are off to college in the Fall during College Signing Day 2019!

My Project
This project is designed for our College Signing Day event at GHS. We plan to use the supplies to photograph students holding the pennant of the college campus they commit to. We also included items to use as raffle prizes for the event. The majority of our students attend community college and we hope to create a strong college-going culture. The materials and prizes will help engage our students because they are currently very popular items and many of our students do not have access due to their financial status. We also hope this event will spark an interest in higher education for our underclassmen.
