This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My ninth grade students are all racially diverse, brown students from Chicago. They all are diverse learners and multisensory learners, that benefit from having a book in hand. All are working to continue to improve their reading levels. Having a class set of books, will help in doing that.
Representation matters.
Having access to books that are relatable and culturally diverse is also important. "Ghost" is a contemporary book written by a Black African-American author, Jason Reynolds. "The House on Mango Street" is a book written by Sandra Cisneros, a Mexican American, born in Chicago.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
