Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have been serving seven thousand students in twenty one rural counties for over fifty five years. Our scholars are resilient children that are provided three meals a day (curbside) even during the COVID 19 pandemic while their parents work in the fields. Our students are Bilingual, Biliterate, Bicultural and lifelong learners. Our students came in third in the state of Florida in "Mathtifica", an online math statewide challenge game. Our third graders are 100% proficient and value their culture.

Our students are eager to learn, courageous, teachable and infinitely grateful for what they have.

Our scholars walk to and from school and see education as a way out of poverty turning their dreams into reality. Our scholars participate in clubs after school such as photography, sports, yoga, art, fitness and computer.

Students at our school are hungry for life and inspired to be our next generation of leaders. We are becoming a national role model in preparing rural children for wise leadership.

My Project

Inactivity has replaced smoking as the number one cause of death in America with 14 million obese children. Physical Education class is the most important aspect of a students school day and helps build brain cells as well as helping students become better versions of themselves.

Wearable technology empowers students with ownership of their own health & well being while at the same time creating an engaging data driven learning experience.

Online technology in Physical Education is creating the future of education measured through health and heart rate monitoring. Tracking students' heart rates teaches valuable life lessons with real time feedback.

"Exercise is like fertilizer for the brain, it's so good, it's like miracle grow." This classroom set of trackers will enable my students to grow.
