This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This is the second part of a proposal to help students learn about Newton's Laws of Motion in an engaging and meaningful way. This year I am excited to start my first year as a science teacher at a high poverty elementary school. Our students are equally excited to learn about science by "doing science".

For years, I have taught students about force and motion by involving them in activities that require them to build and test vehicles using a popular construction toy system. The problem is that I need enough kits for five classes. I am excited to co-teach with other fifth grade teachers; we just need the tools that have been proven to motivate kids to learn and ask questions related to scientific concepts.

With more kits, our problem will be solved. For this unit, each class needs to have access to its own kit, so that small groups of students can test the same vehicle over a period of weeks.

With your help, our students will begin questioning and testing ideas like Newton. Please help our students sustain their excitement about the world of physics!
