My children come to school with a sparkle in their eyes and so much excitement for learning. They come from so many different backgrounds but all share the curiosity and desire to learn. Keeping this excitement alive is essential in developing a love of learning. Many children need sensory input and the opportunity to move while learning. I would like to provide my students with different seating options to keep them engaged.
My students LOVE to dance, sing, and move as they learn and I try to make active engagement a part of everything we do.
So much learning takes place through movement and it amazes me to hear all of the songs and rhymes my students remember and learn from.
My Project
I teach children who are new to school at only 5 and 6 years old. Academic standards have changed greatly and these children are held to high expectations for academic growth. Sitting still is hard for anyone, especially these little learners.
Wiggle seats allow for vital movement to keep children's minds engaged.
Lap desks allow children to color, draw and write anywhere in the room. Choice is important at any age and gives children that sense of empowerment. We don't all work best sitting at at table in a stiff chair. These seating options make a huge difference for these children as they learn how they learn best at school.
