I believe every child deserves the opportunity for an excellent education, and I am proud to partner with my school, other educators, families and community leaders to strive toward this goal. I teach in a high poverty school zone in which 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. These amazing students need additional support because most of them come from low-income single family households of which many have little to no support or resources. Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life and eager to learn.
As a member of the AmeriCorps program, I set out to make our people safer, stronger and healthier; to strengthen our communities; and to get things done for America.
As a member of Metro Atlanta Teach for America, I have been positioned to significantly impact the life trajectories of students in our region’s high-need communities.
My students will use the sentence strips as a tool to help guide their stories. The sentence strips can be used to expand simple sentences they create during the writing block. The strips will allow students to manipulate their ideas as they create more details in their stories.
This project will allow my students to keep exploring the enchanting world of writing, and help build their imagination in the process.
As they continue to learn how to become better writers, they get more excited to show what they know. They love to write and read their writing to anyone who will listen.
