Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of my favorite parts of daily instruction is the hour I spend in small guided reading groups with students. It's peaceful, fun, and overall a great opportunity for learning.

During guided reading, my students meet with me in small groups and are provided text that is at their reading level.

I get to spend time at the back table with these small groups reading and discussing their text with them. Through this small group instruction, they are able to grow as readers and advance to higher reading levels as the year progresses.

This is truly the time of day where students make the most growth as readers and I can best support them with their reading needs. These supplies are used daily in my groups so that students can respond to comprehension questions, mark their thinking in the text, and keep track of their guided reading progress. Having these supplies readily available allows us to make the most out of our daily 20 minutes of small group time together!
