My Students
Many of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Others live in poverty. This year I have AP students who are working hard on writing essays and other texts. I also have three senior English Honors classes where all they do for the whole year is write papers.
My students represent a diverse background economically.
I have students who live by themselves and are working. Some students leave school, go to work, and some have to stay until the end of closing every night. I have students with special needs as well. I have students who come from homes where the parent(s) do not care. We have approximately 700-800 students in our school. Our school strives to bring students into the 21st century.
My Project
Having the calendars will help my students be organized and more responsible for their own learning. When they are absent, they can quickly go to the calendar to see what they have missed. The markers will be used to write on the erasable boards. Students need a variety of colors to help with their visual learning. We had a speaker present his ideas on using legos and playdough in the secondary classroom, many of my students are kinesthetic who need to manipulatives to be creative with their ideas. This helps in the learning process for students at any level of development.
