This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine a time when you really didn't understand a concept, then one day someone explains it to you and that light bulb goes off in your head. I saw that light bulb go off in my students head and eyes when we started reading non-fiction. The more I read the more they want!
My students are wonderful individuals who show such a love and want for more information.
Our resources are so limited it makes it difficult to give them all they want and deserve. Our school is an environment of hard working students and staff, that work hard but in order to give students the best, we have to make do with what we have.
My Project
With these resources we can have a real selection of topics to focus on. We can promote further research on these non-fiction topics. We can show students how to ask and answer questions related to non-fiction topics. Instead of waiting for their teacher to go to the library, they can see first hand, topics in their classrooms that they can choose from and make their own selections to read individually and share their findings with peers.
We have limited resources and the students do their best with what we have, but they deserve so much more.
They were introduced to non-fiction and their curiosity and questioning ran wild. They ask for more topics and more non-fiction activities.
