Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The kindergarten, first and second-grade students that I have the privilege of working with this year are eager learners with a love for knowledge and movement. My classroom, located in Springfield, MA, has a diverse population of students which includes general ed, English language learners and special education students. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to ensure all students are engaged and learning while continuing to grow in independence. By providing flexible seating, hands on materials and adaptive supports, I will be creating an environment conducive to meeting the individual learning needs for all of my students. With your support, we can provide them with educational resources that they need to be successful. Thank you!
My Project
My students are full of energy and love to move around while they are learning. This year I realized the high need for flexible seating within my classroom. I am hoping to provided alternative seating and accommodations for the traditional desks and chairs currently found in my classroom. My students enjoy choosing new seats every day and are taking ownership of their learning. Incorporating flexible seating will increase student engagement and academic learning. I would like to add Bouncy Bands and Wobble Chairs to our flexible seating classroom. I believe that providing different seating options in the classroom will help students focus and maximize their learning experience.
