My Project

This was my first year teaching high school, and honestly, my classroom felt pretty bare. I truly believe that the classroom environment acts as a “second teacher”—which is especially meaningful to me as an environmental science teacher. Unfortunately, this year was a bit rough, and my space didn’t reflect the kind of engaging, welcoming environment I want for my students.

To change that, I’m working toward transforming my classroom into a place where students feel at home and supported.

The items I’m requesting—such as organization carts, storage bins, and visual aids—will help me stay on top of classroom management, but more importantly, they will directly benefit my students by making our space more functional, structured, and inclusive.

Students will use the storage cabinets, laptop tray, and other resources daily to access hands-on lab tools, collaborative workstations, and organized resource centers. For example, having labeled carts will allow students to independently gather materials for labs and group projects, helping them develop responsibility and time management. A more organized and visually engaging classroom will also support a variety of learning styles, encourage curiosity, and reduce stress, especially for students who thrive in clear, structured environments. Ultimately, my goal is to create a space that reflects the importance of the subject I teach—our environment—while also fostering a sense of ownership, comfort, and motivation among my student
