This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Although we have many new rules and regulations to start our new year, our classroom is usually the first exposure students in our area have had to school. Our community school is very diverse where many backgrounds and languages are represented. For most of our students, English is not the primary language. As a result, my students face challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face on an everyday basis, I am always looking to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences.
My Project
My students are lucky to have our own individual workbooks and journals to help us show what we know, but sometimes it is hard to organize all of these materials.
Having these materials right at students' seats would save us lots of transition time, maximize instructional time, and help us to organize and keep track of our own belongings.
Each day I spend a lot of time passing materials out to students. If I could simply ask them to take their Writing Folder out of their Seat Sack, it would save us about 3-5 minutes of writing time each day. Students love having their own personal space, and this would give them a sense of ownership of their materials.
