Getting Organized: Planners for Students

Help me give my students the ability to organize their homework, activities, events, and jobs so that they can plan accordingly and lower their anxiety.

My Students

The students at JHS are an amazing group of kids. They are situated in the Keweenaw Peninsula on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They are a group that generally enjoys the outdoors, working with their hands, and actively discussing ideas.

Activities that allow for hands-on work and full class participation are ideal for these students.

The more often that they get to work in groups on projects, the better. However, they can sometimes need some encouragement to share their thoughts, so any way to get kids exciting to be involved is beneficial in classes.

They are group that in general has lower income than many other schools, and some families struggle to make ends meet. But, our kids are a resilient bunch that are often the first to volunteer to help others in their classes and their communities.

My Project

These planners will help many of my students get organized. Whether they are learning in-person or remotely, students need the ability to plan their days and weeks out, and for many, that cannot happen without a planner. Quite a few of my students haveentioned wanting a planner but have simply not gotten one. Others need a planner but can't name that as the need to help them get work done without the suggestion of a planner. Additionally, many of my students come from lower income households, so having the funds to buy a planner is not always realistic.

Any student that feels they need a planner to succeed should have access to one.

With the organizational tool in their possession, many students will be more successful in school and in their personal lives as well. These planners can be a game changer for so many kids and will have an immediate impact on the students that use them.
