My Project
I am looking to purchase two sets of novels: Esperanza Rising and Fish in a Tree. Esperanza Rising tells the story of a once-rich young woman from Mexico who has to travel to the United States with her family to work the fields in California. Fish in a Tree introduces the reader to a girl who tries to hide her dyslexia from her teachers and classmates.
I have had several students with dyslexia and would love to give them a voice by sharing the novel Fish in a Tree with my classes.
I feel these two novels can expand my students' knowledge and ability to understand and empathize with the main characters.
