My Project

Located in Central Florida, my group of 5th graders love to learn using various learning styles. However, when it comes to Science, we are in desperate need for some hands-on opportunities. With Science also being tested, my students are determined to make sure they understand all aspects of the benchmarks we are studying.

My goal for this project is to help my 5th graders make connections with our Science benchmarks by providing them with the opportunity to explore through labs and experiments.

The products in this project were chosen with our Florida benchmarks in mind. I want to give my students the chance to understand how circuits and magnetism work through hands-on learning, and explore the human body through a more visual aspect. The starter kit was chosen specifically to help increase understanding with the Nature of Science, allowing us to also cross over into measurement in Math! I believe that having these hands-on opportunities will help to reach more students than videos and passages will, and am especially looking forward to seeing the connections my English learning students make.
