This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, innovative thinkers that are always looking for new experiences and ways to learn. We are a Title One school serving 330 students with 100 percent receiving free or reduced lunch and breakfast. Due to our students' diverse backgrounds and experiences, many of them struggle to stay engaged when reading in the classroom. In order to boost engagement in all classrooms I want to begin exposing students to a variety of media and techniques as possible. My students are in grade one through fifth grade with a variety of abilities and special needs. They love hands on experiences and I want to do my best to give them what they need.
My Project
As an elementary art educator, it is my goal to provide a thorough and comprehensive curriculum to my students. At this level, it is the experiences they have that grow a love and passion for their art.
While we are able to provide some basic printmaking experiences , I know there are more techniques out there for students to try and learn.
These quality Gelli Plate materials would never be an option with our current budget. Students can create amazing pieces with these materials.
With this opportunity, students will truly be given something that no other school in our district could provide.
