Getting Fit in Middle School

My Students

Our students come from very low-income families, so they really don't get to experience a lot in life. Our school is a Title I school, but our teachers wouldn't want to teach anywhere else.

Our students are really great kids who want to excel and become great leaders and people.

It's a great thing that they can see themselves out of the situation they are in and into a much better one. They strive to do well and try so very hard to do a great job.

Sometimes working with these students is hard, but these kiddos just fill my heart with joy, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else, even when I have the option to work with students who do not have the limits that these students must deal with.

My Project

Some of our students live in neighborhoods where there isn't much space to play or get energy out. We want to provide our students with a before and after workout/fitness club.

Having the students use resistance bands and a workout bench is important for them to develop their muscles and get fit.

Our students are trying to get in shape from being inside during the pandemic. Many of our students don't have access to a gym, but this could help them . They can work out with our staff and get into shape.

Our students are willing to join sports teams, but some lack the confidence because they get out of breath quickly. Staying inside for almost a year without the ability to get outside and play, made some of our students into couch potatoes and video game players. We want to break them of that habit and get them back into shape during their teenage years.
