Help me give my students a love for reading with books they read independently as their knowledge of sight words grow.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Kindergarten students are full of energy and are excited about learning. Many of my students are English Language Learners that come from many diverse backgrounds. They are interested in learning new things and asking many questions. I keep them engaged by teaching through hands-on activities to reach their learning styles. Every lesson is a new adventure.
Kindergarten is the foundation for all future learning.
My students need to practice reading and begin to understand that books can open up many learning opportunities. When new books are introduced, their faces light up and they get excited to delve in. An abundance of books brings on an abundance of learning.
My Project
I chose these books because kindergarten students first begin learning how to read by looking at pictures. Once they begin to learn sight words they are able to read more and more.
These books will be used by the students both at home and in school.
In class students will use these books for partner reading. At home these books will be used by parent and student. My goal is to give early emergent readers books they can read independently. This will boost their confidence and in turn give them a love for reading.
It is great to see a child’s eyes light up when they recognize a word or can independently read a book. My hope is that an early love for reading will lead students to continue to enjoy reading for the rest of their lives.
