FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. W.'s classroom raised $422
This project is fully funded
I am a Pre-K teacher at a Title One low income school. All the students in my classroom met the criteria of being "At Risk" children. Literacy development begins in the early years, even though the activities of young children may not seem related to reading and writing. Early behaviors such as "reading" from pictures and "writing" with scribbles are examples of emergent literacy and are an important part of children's literacy development. I am a first year Pre-K teacher in a new classroom. I have been provided the basics such as furniture, tables and chairs, but have very few materials to work with. I am in need of early literacy materials in my classroom so that my children will have the exposure to a literacy-rich environment, they need for success as they enter into Kindergarten. Children successfully progress from emergent to conventional reading when provided the materials and opportunity to learn. I am writing this proposal in hopes to be able to get the materials I need to add literacy to all the centers in my classroom.
With Hardwood Alphabet blocks in the block center my students will be learning the alphabet while playing with blocks. With the Alphabet pegboard and pegs in the manipulative center my students will be building fine motor skills while learning their letters. All the materials I have chosen would be placed throughout the room in different centers for literacy exposure . With these materials my children can become successful, confident readers and writers. These materials will be used every day with 18 students and will be used year after year. Thank you for considering my proposal.
