My Students
I teach a Kindergarten and 1st grade multi-age classroom in an urban school district in Washington. Many students at our school come from low socio-economic backgrounds and need all of the resources they can get at school!
I am a second-year teacher looking to help our art class have all the materials they need to create 3-D abstract models.
Our art classroom is brand new this year, so we are in need of many basic materials. Our entire school has been anticipating having art in an art room this year, and it has been such a great experience for all of our students. They are excited to go to art and always look forward to the new projects that the art teacher has in store for them. To help out our art teacher, we are trying to supply some more materials that would allow for more creativity in our students.
My Project
Our art teacher has expressed an interest teaching our students an abstract form of art. Using various wooden shapes, students will be able to create a metallic 3-D shape. Because of our lack of materials, our students have not had much opportunity to explore abstract forms in art. With these tools, they will be able to create their own abstract form and learn about different shapes! This hands-on experience will be a new one that will teach a different perspective of manipulating and seeing art. I believe our students will be able to broaden their view of art and be so proud of their unique creations!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about this project.
It is important to us teachers to be able to allow our students to have the opportunity to be creative and let their imaginations run wild! Please help our art teacher provide our students with a new opportunity of creating 3-D abstract shapes!
