Our kindergarten classroom is FULL of excited and creative young minds that are hungry for different experiences and holiday magic!
I teach in an extremely high-need community with very few resources provided to the classroom that I have not purchased myself. While our kindergarten classroom is overcrowded, we have built an amazing community of young learners. My students work very hard every day and rarely comment on the overload of academics we cover on a daily basis. As the holidays approach I have been trying to find something special for my students to be able to participate in that would be a unique and memorable experience. Many students will not be receiving many Christmas presents (if they get any at all), and I thought the Christmas mugs would be a great send-off as they leave for our winter break!
I have come up with a few activities we will participate in as a class as we approach our holiday break, but I would be so excited for them to get the opportunity to create and take home individual holiday mugs! In this project, each student would get one clear mug in which you can snap in a special design or picture. I am requesting three boxes of specialty paper and fabric that I would cut to the appropriate size and let students choose from to put in their mugs after decorating it. I will be providing additional materials such as stickers, glitter, glue, and markers for students to decorate their fabric/paper. After they have gotten the opportunity to use their creative 5 and 6-year old minds, we will snap in their creations and each child will have their very own personalized mug!
Your help will ensure that my students get to have at least one present of their own this Christmas. Best of all, it will be something they can use for years to come and remember the great fun of getting to take part in making such a wonderful gift in their Kindergarten class. What a great way to truly experience the magic of the season!!
