My Students

The students at this school come from a very diverse city. A majority of the students are either ESL students or able to speak Spanish fluently as a second language. Each year I have taught here, our student body has fallen into a lower socioeconomic category and the school is deemed a "Title 1" school.

With that being said, we still maintain very high in state testing scores and earned 6 out 6 distinctions on the Texas Assessment Performance Report in 2016.

This was a first for our campus and the distinctions included Academic Achievement in English Language Arts/Reading, Academic Achievement in Mathematics, Academic Achievement in Science, Top 25 Percent: Student Progress, Top 25 Percent: Closing Performance Gaps and Postsecondary Readiness.

Thus proving that these kids will work their hardest for those who show them love and work to provide them with the best environment possible!

My Project

After a successful year of collecting items for a flexible seating classroom that students could snuggle into and feel like home, we are wanting to expand our flexible seating and give the students more options!

Students WILL learn if they are given the right resources that challenge them as equally as they entice them!

This years "Blue Bonnet" Book award winners are just that, challenging and enticing! The students are more motivated than ever to read them all, but we need your help. Also, due to growing class numbers, we are in need of a few more flexible seats that the students will strive to earn the privilege to sit in! I know the students will love the stability ball chairs.

Help me get keep these kids motivated and excited to come into the ELA classroom! Reading is more important than ever!
