Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My marvelous mustangs gallop into our school everyday eager to start our day and find out what we get to explore next. We are at a Title one school and the majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My students are English Language Learners and are coming from homes where several different languages are being utilized.

Although, they are coming from less than ideal living scenarios they arrive with huge smiles and excitement for learning everyday.

I have the opportunity to work with students in the gifted and talented program that crave challenges and new experiences. I look forward to these materials bringing many more lightbulb moments to our class and seeing their faces elated from learning.

My Project

The Osmo is a innovative gaming system that fosters creative thinking and collaborative learning. When paired with an iPad, the Osmo transforms the area in front of the tablet into an interactive environment. They use actual objects to physically solve puzzles and problems! The different games such as Coding with Awbie, the Genius Kit and the pizza game will allow them to learn crucial problem solving skills that can directly help them to develop marketable skills to help with their futures and make them employable.

My students will become better critical thinkers and will be able to interact with their peers in a way that fosters shared learning.

My students will gain a better understanding in reading, math, and coding. The Osmo gaming system will introduce my students to new and exciting ways to interact with technology.
