Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are dual language learners! This will be their second year learning in both English and Spanish, where 70% of their day is in Spanish and 30% is in English. In the Boston community we have many students who are recent immigrants to the United States with limited literacy skills and exposure to English.

My students come to school excited to learn and also receive the resources they might not have at home.

The students in my classroom need to know and believe that they can do anything they set their minds to despite the hardships they may be facing at home.

My Project

Whole group learning is most comfortable and engaging when students have their own space to sit on the rug. This past year I was given a circular rug which did not fit 25 students comfortably. It also made it difficult to have seating assignments. However, this rug will allow for students to have their own square to sit on and have that space for turn and talk. Help me make my classroom comfy and also help each student have a seat on the rug. Aside from the rug, I am also asking for an organized mailbox to have a place for homework folders as well as having that space to store important notices that get sent home. Help me keep my students and myself organized! Last but not least, this year I am trying to have 2 computer center groups going on at the same time, to make this possible I will need 2 more Chromebooks for the classroom. Students have been enjoying Raz-kids in class and I will like to provide more students with the opportunity during center time.
