My Project

Here at our school, having flexible seating during independent reading or work time allows my students to be in control of their learning.

By having access to interesting books that are relevant and relatable to their lives, my students will be more inclined to want to read during independent reading time.

In addition to having a variety of books on hand, if students have comfortable and flexible seating available to them, they will be more comfortable and motivated to complete their work.

My goal for this project is to provide my students with interesting reading material while promoting a comfortable and inclusive learning environment. I believe that by giving my students these opportunities, they will be able to take control of their learning and find more interest/motivation in completing their work. I have been told over and over by my students that sometimes they feel like school has ruined their interest or joy in reading. I would like to bring back that joy by giving them access to new and interesting texts that they pick.

The students here are unique and incredibly talented. Many of our students are drawn to the arts and love writing creatively or creating with their hands. By donating to this project, you will help inspire my students to continue to explore their creative minds through the joy of reading. The products that I have selected will give my students access to new and interesting texts while allowing them to sit comfortably in the classroom. The cushions and bean bag chairs will let them move away from the tables and sit more comfortably. Lastly, the earbuds will be available for students who like to listen to audiobooks or listen to music as they read.
