Getting Comfy and Cozy in the Reading Nook!

My Students

This year, I am embarking on a new challenge at a brand new school. This school does not yet have many of the supplies or resources that I was used to having at my previous school. I had to leave many of those items behind.

Kindergarten students are my passion-their joy and love of learning inspires me on a daily basis.

I want to make sure that my upcoming students have everything they need to be successful.

Kindergarten students are eager to learn by nature! Given the right environment, they are able to grow and thrive so much in just one year! My goal is to create students who have a love of learning from day one that continues with them throughout the rest of their lives.

My Project

The items I have chosen for this project will be used to create a cozy reading nook in my new classroom. I looked for items that would be perfect for a kindergarten student, and give them the most comfortable place to read in my new library.

Kindergarten students love coming together as a class for carpet time; this is where some of our most meaningful learning occurs.

My new classroom comes without a large rug for us to gather on and learn each day. A large area to sit is vital for a kindergarten classroom, and I am going to create this space using sit-spots instead of a rug because it was a cheaper option than a traditional rug.

As part of this large seating area, I am also going to create a space for our daily calendar. I had to leave all of my calendar materials at my previous school, so I need a Calendar Math Activity Program to keep my students engaged during calendar time. This is a part of their routine they look forward to as they learn about weather, days of the week, patterns, and money; you name it! I truly appreciate your support in turning this vision for my new students into a reality!
