Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first-grade teacher in a low-income school district ready to return to full-in-person learning this coming year. Our students work hard each and every day to be successful in school. First graders are learning how to write their names, read, add and subtract, and be part of a classroom community. These students deserve to have all the necessary tools to be successful both in and outside of the classroom.
My Project
These leveled reader books will allow students to continue practicing their reading skills in guided reading groups. Multiple copies of each book allow students to work in small groups with me and focus on one text at a time. The mix of fiction and nonfiction genres is great exposure for the students. Allowing students to practice reading in small groups will continue to build their confidence when reading independently. I am excited to be able to have guided reading groups back this year as students are finally back in the classroom from remote learning!
